Gaddhafi’s defeat is yet another example of how tyrants will face humiliation in this life and the Hereafter

“And Give Glad Tidings To The Believers” [10:87]
The final end of Muammar Gaddhafi’s role in Libya is indeed good news for the Believers.
This was a man who martyred thousands, persecuted tens of thousands and oppressed millions over a 42 year reign.
Some he oppressed because they opposed him. Some because they accounted him over his blatant violation of Islamic beliefs – most famously when he denied the Sunnah.
He was a man who served western interests in the region – most heavily those of Britain and Italy. Indeed, NATO’s opposition was only at the eleventh hour.
Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair embraced him, despite being a violent dictator who was accused of the biggest terrorist act in British history, accused of killing a police woman, and supporting the IRA.
His successor, Gordon Brown, sent him Christmas cards -addressed on first name terms.
The current UK Prime Minister David Cameron denounced him at the eleventh hour, when it was clear his regime would not survive. Until early in 2011, Britain was still selling him arms, and enjoyed a warm relationship with his sons – especially the notorious Saif al Islam; and even welcomed the ‘defection’ of the brutal and sly Moussa Koussa from his regime.
Whilst the people of Libya turned to NATO for help in desperation – having received no help from the neighbouring Arab regimes – the role of NATO states in supporting Gaddhafi, as well as Mubarak, Ben Ali, Assad, Ali Abdallah Saleh of Yemen, Hammad bin Esa of Bahrain, the Al-Saud dynasty etc is well known, and proves their actions were in self interest and not for the humanitarian reasons they cite.
As the footage of Gaddhafi’s humiliating defeat spreads across the world, let every tyrant and oppressor take heed. Let them see their time is running out.
The Prophet [Alayhi salatu wassalam] said ‘ Verily Allah gives respite to the oppressor. But when He seizes him, He does not let him escape’ [ Agreed upon].
Let this Ummah realise that Allah SWT is helping her towards a new future; and she should look forward to the justice of Islam bringing her security instead of the fear and hardship they have suffered before.
